# Control thermostat settings

Discover the intended thermostat and its declared capabilities from [the directory](/docs/for-ai/capability-interfaces.md). Retrieve the exact setpoint/mode schema before sending. Preserve declared units, supported mode names and temperature bounds; never assume Celsius/Fahrenheit.
