Control Alexa devices with ChatGPT, Claude and Port OS
Connect your Amazon Alexa account to Port OS. Use supported lights, speakers, thermostats and other Alexa-connected devices from your AI assistant.
Bring devices already linked to Alexa into your AI conversations. Port OS connects to your Amazon account and exposes the supported controls for its devices. You can use the same connected home from a browser or a compatible AI assistant.

What you can do
- Switch supported lights and plugs on or off, adjust brightness or change supported light colours.
- Pause a supported speaker, change its volume or ask it to speak a message.
- Read available thermostat and sensor information, and use the temperature controls a device exposes.
- Find supported Alexa groups and choose the intended device or group for a request.
Try “Turn off the desk lamp” or “Set the kitchen Echo volume to 20%.” Controls vary across Amazon devices and third-party Alexa integrations. A device appearing in Alexa does not guarantee that every action in its own app is available through Port OS.
What you need
Use the Amazon account that has access to the intended devices, with those devices already working in Alexa. Port OS adds no hub of its own. Any bridge required by the device manufacturer still needs to be connected.
Connect your account
- Choose Alexa and follow the displayed Amazon sign-in and code-link steps.
- Open Your Devices and check the discovered names and groups.
- Connect your AI and approve the devices and controls you want it to use.
The lighting guide and media guide explain choosing a target and checking its supported controls.
If a device or control is missing
Check that the device works in Alexa and belongs to the Amazon account you connected. A third-party device may expose fewer controls through Alexa than through a direct provider connection. For Hue or Sonos, compare the direct Philips Hue and Sonos connections.
If a command fails, check its target and the device's current connectivity before retrying. Follow connection troubleshooting or contact support with the device model and failed step.
Port OS uses cloud services. Review the privacy policy and each connection's permissions. Explore all integrations or read how smart home MCP works.
